200th Anniversary Celebration
First Presbyterian Church
The purpose of our 200th Anniversary Celebration is to give Glory to God for what He has done among us, to celebrate our past and to embrace our future.
The past will come alive through four main events that celebrate the life of our church and its rich history.
Sunday, February 12, 2023–International Missions
- Guest Speaker, John McCall, will share his life on the mission field in Taiwan
- Display of our International Mission trips to Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, Peru
- International Mission participants—who, where, when—trip testimonies
- International meal with special foods served on past Mission trips
Sunday, March 26, 2023
Rev. Peggy Swann was be our Guest Pastor followed by a reception in the Fellowship Hall in her honor. She served in the past as our Director of Christian Education and recently retired as Pastor of the Townville Presbyterian Church in Townville, SC after serving for 13 years.
Sunday, April 23, 2023
Rev. Nicolas Yoda will be our Guest Pastor followed by visiting with him at a covered dish luncheon celebrating our annual Presbyterian Women’s Birthday Luncheon.
Sunday, April 30, 2023
A South Carolina Historical Marker commemorating our church and its 200-year history was unveiled Sunday, April 30, in a Dedication Ceremony on the lawn at the corner of W. Calhoun and Main. A gathering was hosted in the Fellowship Hall at 9:30 for Coffee Time and a presentation of the Application and Approval Process to the South Carolina Preservation Office prior to the unveiling at 10:00.
Sunday, May 7, 2023—Local Missions
- Revitalization and Renewal through Service to others: Mark Champagne, Guest Speakaer
- Display of past and current community projects—Cinderella Project, Gear Up for Learning, Back Pack Ministry, Prayer Shawl Ministry, Thanksgiving Pies, Meals for SUM Doctors, Covenant Place, Habitat for Humanity, and others

Archives Display in Fellowship Hall
Let’s celebrate the history of the past 200 years of First Presbyterian Church by walking through the Archive’s Display in the Fellowship Hall over the next few weeks! The History Committee has brought our past to life for us all to see, and feel and appreciate!
Bicentennial T-Shirt Orders
Let’s celebrate in style by wearing our logo! Our 200th Anniversary T-shirts in a variety of colors will be available to order through a QR code on our website, in the Focus, or in the Sunday Bulletin from now until mid-November. They can be shipped directly to you or picked up at church on designated Pick-Up dates TBA. A sample T-shirt will be on display at the Welcome Desk.
Bicentennial Concert September 17
Organists Bill Scobee and Hamilton Stoddard will join other talented musicians for a special concert on Sunday, September 17. Admission is free and a reception will follow.
