We Welcome All!
Here at First Presbyterian, we believe that worship is a corporate experience shared by all. God is our audience. Built in 1907, many pastors would say we have one of the most beautiful sanctuaries in which they have ever been. The doors to our sanctuary are open to everyone and anyone who is looking for grace, acceptance, love and a place to belong. If you are searching for a church home, we invite you to read more about us below and come join us on a Sunday morning.
What is your service like?
Our worship (at 10:30 a.m.) is best described as traditional, comfortable and welcoming. The elements of worship include the reading of scripture, singing of hymns, a sermon, prayers, and special music.
One of our favorite moments in the service is the passing of the peace when congregants are invited to share a handshake with one another.
Though the Chancel Choir leads most of the music, it is not uncommon for our Sunday worship to include horns, brass, harp, violin, bells, bagpipes or guitar. We encourage all ages to help lead in worship, especially our young people.
Most Sundays one of our youth leads the first scripture reading. We also have elementary aged acolytes, junior ushers, children’s choir and youth bells. A moment for children to come forward and learn from one of our pastors is also a piece of our worship.

What should I wear?
Many of our congregants choose to dress up for Church. Some wear suits or dresses while others have open collars and no tie, or polo shirts and khakis. So, wear what feels comfortable.

How often do you take Communion?
We celebrate communion together 12 times a year. All are welcome to the Lord’s Table no matter your denominational background. Communion is a reminder of the love and grace of Jesus Christ and he invites all who need to be forgiven, renewed and encouraged to come and dine with him.
What about my children?
Nursery (0-3)Nursery is provided for newborns and children up to age 3 during both the Sunday school hour, as well as worship and is located on the first floor of the Education Building. Drop off for nursery begins at 9:15 am and pick up is immediately following worship |
Pre-K – 2nd GradeChildren’s Church is available. Children will be dismissed to Children’s Church following the Children’s Moment during the service. Following the church service parents may pick up their children from the Children’s Church room located on the third floor of the Education Building. |
3rd Grade +Upon entering third grade, children are invited to attend worship with their family. We believe worship is meant to be done as a family and that our faith strengthened by participating in the singing, praying and responses of the congregation. |
How do I get connected?
Sunday School classes are offered before worship from 9:30 – 10:15.
All are invited to join together for a time of fellowship from 10-10:20 a.m., right before service, in the fellowship hall. Breakfast sandwiches from Shoney’s are provided along with coffee, water and lemonade.
We also encourage you to visit the Latest News section of our website to see all the weekly opportunities there are to connect with other members of our fellowship. We look forward to getting to know you!
