Youth Group

Times:  (MS & HS) 6-7:30 pm

When: Every Sunday evening from August – May

Youth group gathers in the West Building to study scripture, enjoy fellowship, eat good food, and serve our surrounding community. This is a great way for your youth to dig deep roots in their faith, as well as get plugged into the First Presbyterian Church family. While our middle school and high school students meet at different times, we gather as one large group from 6:00-6:30 pm for dinner.

Sunday School

Times: 9:30 am

When: Every Sunday

Every Sunday morning our youth are invited to participate in Sunday school. We meet as one large group in the West Building and use the curriculum Feasting on the Word, which digs deep into scripture. We also use this time to build deeper friendships among  our youth.

A time for our high school students to meet outside of the church walls to grow deeper in their faith. The high school boys will gather at Hardees on the first Thursday of the month at 7:00 pm to explore what it means to be a young man of faith. The high school girls will also gather the first Thursday of the month at 7:00 pm at different homes and will explore what it means to be a young woman of faith.

Prayer Breakfast (Middle School)

7:00-7:30 am

Our middle school students are invited to join us for Bible study and fellowship the 1st Wednesday of the month at Bakers Sweets from 7:00-7:30 am. Bring a few dollars for a sweet treat!

8th Grade Confirmation

Room 306, Third Floor Education Building

Growing up in a congregation, students heard the stories of the Bible. Now, as they mature, it is time they understand that in belonging to God, those stories are also their stories, and that they themselves belong to God. Confirmation is a journey into a deeper faith. It is an opportunity for our young people to respond to the grace and love found in baptism, by committing to growing a deeper life-long faith. Confirmation is when our young people begin to ask big questions and pursue the answers together in an inviting and welcoming environment.

Youth Liturgists

An important way for our youth to be involved in the life of First Presbyterian Church is through our Youth Liturgist program. We encourage all of our youth to be involved in and help lead worship on Sunday mornings. When your youth signs up, they will be assigned two or three Sundays a year to help assist the pastor in leading the congregation in worship.

Youth Choir

Youth Choir is open to all youth (grades 6-12). It meets on an occasional basis throughout the school year to consider the intersection of music, worship, and the world; and to prepare to lead worship by lifting voices. This group has a flexible schedule but appreciates active and committed participants. Please contact Joni Brown ( or 803-773-3814) if you would like to sing, sing, sing!

Youth Handbells

Rehearsal – 11:40 a.m.-12:10 p.m. on Sundays (September-May)

Youth Handbell Choir is open to all Grades 6-12th. It does require active and regular participation, but the benefits of learning a new form of music, growing in faith, and fellowship with one another all make it well worth the effort. Please contact Joni Brown ( or 803-773-3814) if you are/your youth is interested in being a part of this group! No experience is necessary.
